Let’s End the Stigma Project

Project Overview

What is the purpose of this project?

The purpose of the project is to increase mental health awareness in the Black immigrant community. In the cultures many of us come from, we don’t often talk about mental health. Yet we are no different when it comes to the prevalence of mental health conditions. Here at the GK folks Mental Health Program, we would like to do something about it.

Alright, what will the project entail?

This project will consist of a series of five-online workshops facilitated by licensed mental health professionals. Each workshop will focus on different topics on mental health. We will talk about what mental health is and why it’s important to seek mental wellness. You will also hear personal stories of Black immigrants and their mental health journeys

Cool, what are the benefits of attending these workshops?

You will learn more about mental health, learn skills to keep your mental health in check, and learn about the many local mental health resources available to you. Additionally, participants who complete all the workshops will be awarded a $25 gift card and have a chance to be entered into a drawing to receive a grand prize of a $200 gift card.
