UAU is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Utah’s diverse African community since 2004. Our mission is to empower refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers through programs that foster cultural pride, education, and community connection.
Over the years, we’ve partnered with African refugee organizations and supported newcomers from Nepal, Ukraine, and Venezuela. Our initiatives include:
- Community Support: Linking individuals and families to resources, employment, and juvenile assistance.
- Capacity Building: Helping form community-based organizations and providing ongoing guidance.
- Programs for Growth: Karate, soccer, and computer training—improving skills and confidence across all age groups.
With support from the Department of Refugee Services (DWS) through the RCBO grant, we’ve expanded our reach to assist newcomers and promote small business development via the African Chamber of Commerce.
