UAU Community Outreach Programs
United Africans of Utah (UAU) Community Outreach Programs are designed to empower refugee youth and families in Utah by addressing identity challenges and promoting successful integration. Many young people face cultural disconnection and risks such as gang involvement, substance abuse, and school dropout. To counter this, UAU provides structured programs that foster social, emotional, and cognitive development through education, technology, and sports.
Our initiatives include Computer Literacy Training, which equips refugees with essential digital skills to improve employment prospects and leadership capacity; the Youth Soccer Program, which combines soccer with educational and health workshops to keep youth engaged in positive activities; and the Youth Karate Program, which builds discipline, respect, and academic growth. These programs, along with the annual African Festival celebrating African heritage through music, dance, art, and food, create a stronger, inclusive community where refugee youth and families feel connected, empowered, and prepared for the future.
